How much cash can you take to Qatar?

There is no cap on what you may carry into Qatar. At QAR 50,000 or more you must tell customs, which is free and takes a few minutes. The same figure applies leaving.

Entering Qatar

QAR 50,000

or more — declare it

Leaving Qatar

QAR 50,000

or more — declare it

Applies per person. Each traveller has their own figure. That does not make splitting a large sum across a group to avoid the threshold lawful — several countries treat that as an offence in its own right.

We haven't been able to confirm this figure on an official page yet — it rests on the source below. Check with General Directorate of Customs, Qatar before you rely on it.

The figure above is only one end of the trip. Add where you're coming from or going to for both.

The rule in Qatar, in full

Cash or bearer negotiable instruments exceeding QAR 50,000 (approximately USD 13,700) must be declared when entering or leaving Qatar. Same threshold both directions, per traveller. QAR is pegged to USD at 3.64 QAR = 1 USD. Verified: false — threshold sourced from IATA travel intelligence and travel-advice summaries; direct Qatar Customs confirmation was not available.

Form: Cash Declaration Form (General Directorate of Customs Qatar). Get it from the authority at the border or their site — we don't mirror it here, because forms are revised without notice and a stale copy is worse than none.
