How much cash can you take to Argentina?

There is no cap on what you may carry into Argentina. At USD 10,000 or more you must tell customs, which is free and takes a few minutes. The same figure applies leaving.

Entering Argentina

USD 10,000

or more — declare it

Leaving Argentina

USD 10,000

or more — declare it

Applies per person. Each traveller has their own figure. That does not make splitting a large sum across a group to avoid the threshold lawful — several countries treat that as an offence in its own right.

The rule in Argentina, in full

Travelers entering or leaving Argentina with cash, bearer negotiable instruments or precious metals equal to or greater than USD 10,000 (or equivalent in any currency, including pesos) must declare it to Customs. Entry declared on form OM 2249-A; export of national currency/instruments uses form OM 2250-B. Threshold defined in USD. Per individual traveler; for minors under 16 the limit is 50% (USD 5,000). Confirmed on the official Argentine Foreign Ministry consular page.

Form: OM 2249-A (entry) / OM 2250-B (exit of national currency). Get it from the authority at the border or their site — we don't mirror it here, because forms are revised without notice and a stale copy is worse than none.
