What arriving travelers can bring into Zimbabwe without paying duty — from official customs guidance.
Alcohol
5 L
max 2 L spirits · 18+
Full rule
5 litres of alcoholic beverages of which not more than 2 litres may be spirits, traveller 18+ (part of the traveller's rebate)
Tobacco
No set quota
counts within USD 200 rebate
Full rule
No separate published quota - tobacco in open packages for personal use counts within the USD 200 rebate value
Goods & gifts
USD 200
once per calendar month
Full rule
USD 200 per person in goods for personal use, claimable ONCE per calendar month (on first entry that month); long exclusion list applies - stoves, fridges, blankets, cooking oil, laundry soap, beds/mattresses, flour, maize meal, sugar, meat, fish, dairy, eggs, jam, honey etc. never qualify; commercial imports excluded
Cash · declare from
No entry limit
Form 47 advised · USD 10,000 exit cap
Full rule
No limit on bringing currency IN - but complete Customs Form 47 declaring the amount on arrival; visitors may re-export up to USD 10,000 (or the declared arrival amount if less); residents need Reserve Bank authorization to export currency
Depends on: once-per-calendar-month rebate cycle; age 18+ for alcohol; residency (visitors vs residents) for currency export
Good to know
The USD 200 rebate resets on the first entry of each calendar month, not per trip - frequent cross-border travellers get it once a month. Groceries/basic commodities are deliberately excluded from the rebate to curb informal trading. Cash declaration on entry is technically urged rather than mandatory, but skipping Form 47 forfeits the right to take excess cash out again
